01About these terms
These terms govern use of ScotRevision, operated by Edward Tait, trading as ScotRevision. Contact [email protected]. By using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it.
Scot Revision is an independent revision platform and is not affiliated with, approved by or endorsed by Qualifications Scotland. It is not operated by Qualifications Scotland and does not award qualifications. References to Qualifications Scotland, its name or logo, and its resources identify the qualifications and materials supported; they do not indicate a partnership, sponsorship or endorsement.
The Privacy policy explains how personal information is handled.
02Access and free use
The overview is publicly available. Chat and the revision workspace require a verified email address and completed account profile. Each account includes five AI prompts per day, resetting at midnight UK time. The server enforces the allowance across chats, devices and sessions. Regenerating an answer or retrying a request counts when another AI request begins, even if it fails or is stopped. Once you reach the limit, wait until the next day. Paid plans are not yet available.
You must be 13 or over, provide accurate school/home-education, year-group and birth-date details, and keep verification codes private. Your account is individual: a shared school name does not grant anyone else access. Parental controls and homework features are planned separately and are not provided by the initial release.
No paid subscription or automatic charge is created by using this workspace. If paid features become available, their price and additional terms will be presented before you agree to pay. Do not attempt to evade usage controls or impersonate another user.
03Using ScotRevision as a learner
If you are under 18, read these terms with a parent, carer or trusted adult where you need help. You must meet the legal requirements applying to your use and any consent-based features. We will not offer a feature requiring parental authorisation without the relevant process.
Parents may generate homework for approved students, but cannot use general AI chat or submit answers for them. Weekly homework is optional and uses the creating account’s allowance; it can be paused. Practice scores and topic suggestions are learning support and may be inaccurate. Study-time limits are based on approximate site activity, not device-wide monitoring. Use ScotRevision to understand and practise. Follow your school’s and awarding body’s rules on AI, coursework, assessment and academic integrity. Do not submit generated work as your own where this is not allowed.
04Responsible AI and school use
ScotRevision is a study aid, not a replacement for teachers, classmates or professional judgement. Its AI may produce inaccurate or biased answers. Question its suggestions, check original sources and discuss uncertain feedback with your teacher. You can choose non-AI revision resources and raise concerns with us at [email protected].
Use in a school must follow the school’s and local authority’s policies, approval, supervision and safeguarding arrangements. ScotRevision has not been verified for classroom adoption. The school or authority must complete its suitability, age-appropriateness and data-protection checks, including any required impact assessment and supplier agreements, before introducing it. Our safeguards and these terms do not establish government approval or certify compliance with the Scottish Government’s AI in schools guidance.
Do not upload identifiable school records, pupil lists, medical information, safeguarding files or staff performance information. Remove names, candidate numbers, faces and other private details from practice work. Messages and processed files are sent to an external AI service; they are not automatically anonymised. Teachers must review any feedback they use. Do not use ScotRevision to make official grading, progression, disciplinary or support decisions, or to monitor teachers’ performance.
For assessed work, check the current course conditions and your teacher’s instructions before using AI. Where allowed, acknowledge the assistance and use authoritative sources for citations. Do not submit AI-generated work as your own, conceal AI use or use it during assessments where assistance is forbidden. See the Qualifications Scotland assessment guidance.
To report an inaccurate, discriminatory or unsafe answer, use Report a concern beside the response or contact [email protected]. Do not include private student data. The service is not an emergency or safeguarding reporting channel and chats are not monitored for emergencies. If you are worried about harm, speak to a trusted adult or your school’s safeguarding contact; in immediate danger, call 999 in the UK.
05AI accuracy disclaimer
AI-generated revision questions, explanations, suggested answers and marking feedback are provided for independent study. They are not official Qualifications Scotland materials or assessments and have not been approved or endorsed by Qualifications Scotland.
AI-generated content and automated marking may contain errors, omissions, outdated information or unsuitable guidance, including incorrect questions, calculations, answers, source references and marks. Feedback may differ from a teacher’s or examiner’s judgement, even when an official marking scheme is used. Check important points against the official paper, marking scheme or current course specification, and ask a teacher if you are unsure. Do not rely on AI output alone when preparing for an assessment.
Marks, scores and any grade estimates are practice guidance, not an official result, predicted qualification grade or guarantee of exam performance. They do not replace assessment by your school, teacher or awarding body. Course assessment rules and grade boundaries can change. National 4 and other courses may not use the same graded examination model as National 5, Higher or Advanced Higher.
Even when a practice test contains sourced official past-paper questions, the booklet assembled by ScotRevision and any AI-generated answers or marking feedback are not official examination papers or marking instructions. The original questions remain attributable to their stated source.
Resource coverage varies. The document library and reviewed test-question bank are different collections; the test creator cannot assemble every question from every available paper. Where enabled, it may add related topics from the same course to complete a requested test and identify the added topics. We do not promise that every paper or scheme is available or that all extracted material has been reviewed. This disclaimer does not limit your statutory consumer rights or our legal obligations.
06Your content and permission to process it
You retain the rights you have in your questions, notes and submitted work. You grant ScotRevision the limited permission needed to store, process, transmit to relevant service providers and display that content to you to deliver the features you request. This is not permission to sell your work or publish it for advertising.
Only submit content you are entitled to use and share for this purpose. Remove unnecessary personal information about yourself and others. Do not upload confidential material, unlawful content or files that you are not permitted to share.
You may use AI output for lawful revision purposes, subject to any applicable third-party rights and assessment rules. Output may be similar to other users’ output and is not guaranteed to be unique, accurate or free of third-party rights.
07Acceptable use
Do not use ScotRevision to harm or harass others, share unlawful content, compromise security, distribute malicious files, obtain another person’s private information, or interfere with the service. Do not bypass access restrictions, prompt allowances or file checks, or automate requests in a way that overloads the service.
We may restrict requests or access where reasonably necessary to prevent abuse, protect users, comply with the law or investigate a security issue. We will act proportionately and explain the reason where practical and lawful. Contact [email protected] if you think access was restricted by mistake.
08Website and official materials
The ScotRevision name, website design and application materials are protected by applicable intellectual-property rights. Open-source components remain subject to their own licences.
Official questions, marking instructions, reports and other third-party resources belong to their respective rights holders. Their inclusion or a link does not transfer ownership or grant unrestricted copying or republication. Follow the publisher’s applicable conditions, copyright notices and any statutory exceptions when using, downloading or sharing them.
Report a suspected rights infringement to [email protected] with the material’s location, the rights concerned and enough information for us to investigate. Do not include unnecessary student information.
09Availability, changes and your files
We aim to provide the service with reasonable care and skill. Availability can be affected by maintenance, technical faults, browser support, internet access or external providers. Save a copy of work you need. Browser data may be lost if you clear storage or change devices, and local testing is not a cloud backup. Connected account chats, processed evidence, memory and selected workspace settings are stored in Supabase; profile pictures remain on this device.
We may improve or change features and will give reasonable notice of material changes where practical. If a change affects a paid service in future, the applicable consumer rights and purchase terms will still apply. We will not retrospectively remove rights you already have under law.
You can stop using the service at any time. Use available deletion controls or contact us about stored information. The Privacy policy explains why deleting chats does not automatically remove separate memory or minimal account-allowance records.
10Responsibility and your legal rights
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits rights or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or your applicable statutory consumer rights.
Where we breach these terms or fail to use reasonable care and skill, we are responsible for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result, subject to applicable law. We are not responsible for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable or for avoidable loss caused by your failure to follow reasonable instructions, except where the law says otherwise.
The service is intended for personal learning. We do not promise exam success, an official grade or suitability for running a business. These statements about AI limitations do not remove our obligations to you under law.
11Questions, complaints and applicable law
Contact [email protected] if something goes wrong. Explain the issue without sending passwords or unnecessary private documents, and we will try to resolve it fairly.
These terms are governed by Scots law. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of mandatory protections in your country of residence or your right to bring proceedings in a court available to you under applicable consumer law. There is no requirement to use private arbitration.
We may update these terms to reflect legal changes, security requirements or changes to the service. We will show the effective date and give appropriate notice of significant changes. Changes apply prospectively and do not override accrued rights or statutory protections.
